How Digit Uses Rutter to Power Modern ERP for Manufacturers and Distributors
Digit is redefining ERP for the underserved SMB manufacturing and distribution market — automating AR workflows and improving cash flow visibility with Rutter's unified API.

For most small and midsized manufacturers, ERP software has historically been out of reach: expensive, slow to implement, and too rigid for fast-moving businesses. Instead, these companies pieced together point solutions across QuickBooks, eCommerce, and CRM tools — sending invoices manually, tracking receivables in Excel, and letting payments slip through the cracks.
Digit's vision was a single modern ERP that unified operational and financial data for this underserved segment. But building dozens of accounting and commerce integrations from scratch wasn't feasible for a lean, 11-person engineering team focused on core product.
"Our customers used to forget to invoice or send them late. Now invoices generate instantly from shipped sales orders. Accuracy is nearly 100 percent, and they're getting paid faster."
Digit partnered with Rutter to bring accounting connectivity into its platform. "All of our engineering focus is on building core ERP modules, not rebuilding integrations," Koukol explained. "Rutter let us plug in once and connect to all the accounting systems our customers already use. That alone saves us months of development time and lets us onboard customers much faster."
Through Rutter's API, Digit syncs sales orders into invoices and purchase orders into bills inside QuickBooks, with Xero and expanded AR/AP visibility on the roadmap. The result: invoices now generate automatically as soon as an order ships, accelerating payment cycles and cutting out manual data entry.

Invoices generate automatically the moment a sales order ships — no more forgotten or late invoices.
Customers on Digit's QuickBooks integration send invoices faster, collect sooner, and get clearer visibility into what's outstanding.
Rutter's unified API lets Digit's 11-person engineering team ship AR analytics, cash-flow dashboards, and payment tracking at startup speed.
As Digit continues to scale, Rutter remains central to its expansion across accounting, commerce, and payments. Koukol sees commerce and payments as the next major growth area: customers are asking for Shopify, WooCommerce, and Amazon integrations so Digit can bring orders in and automatically create invoices and fulfillment records. In the next phase, Digit plans to deepen AR automation with real-time payment status, aging reports, and Shopify order syncing — all powered through Rutter's API. Longer term, the company sees potential in connecting CRM and productivity platforms to its ERP core.
"We want to give every small manufacturer the tools to compete globally. Rutter helps us do that by unlocking new integrations faster than we could ever build ourselves."
